Yvette Young on touring with Kitzy Sound

Kitzy built Yvette's playback rig and a self-contained audio package that travels with Covet on every tour. Here's what that's been like, in Yvette's own words.

Hearing myself onstage

Working with Kitzy is honestly spoiling me! They built me a proper playback rig and really took our in-ears game up several levels. I used to be so nervous about my onstage sound and being able to hear myself, but now I can rest assured that every show I can hear myself loud and clear.

I think people often underestimate the impact having good sound onstage can have on overall confidence and performance, so overall, I can say that working with Kitzy has helped me give audiences better shows.

The same rig, every night

Kitzy also brings their own gear to every tour, which alleviates any sound inconsistencies and helps me feel secure. It also shortens the prep needed during soundcheck, so I can actually be comfortable onstage and run what I need to run. I've noticed that with Kitzy, we rarely take up our whole soundcheck because of this!

Mixes fans notice

The quality of the mixes has been so clear and dynamic, and fans have been taking notice. As a performer, it is essential to me that people get the best experience, and with Kitzy's attention to detail and quality setup, I know that's always going to be the case.

Beyond the gear

Some qualities I find really rare and valuable in working with Kitzy.

A calming presence

I am an anxious person, and Kitzy is always reassuring and grounding.

Assertive when it is important

Kitzy has tour managing experience and will always advocate for the artist and for fairness.

Filling in blanks without being told

Kitzy memorized my whole setup and has it ready for me without me even asking. I usually feel nervous about this, but so far I can confidently say that it's all accurate, even if I don't double-check.

Attention to detail

You can just tell that Kitzy wants to do the best job and really cares about their craft. Even when I'm consistently happy, I notice that Kitzy is always brainstorming ways to make things smoother and better.

Big-picture thinking

Kitzy not only does sound but has great ideas for how to advance the show experience, and also helps with things unrelated to live sound. I personally appreciate this because it feels like someone cares beyond just doing the "bare minimum" and is actually invested in giving people a good experience, not just the artists onstage.

A good hang!!!

This one is so important for tour. As an artist, I really value harmony on tour, and Kitzy is not only a kind person, but my group loves spending time with them and actually sharing space on the road, which, arguably, is just as important as being good at your job in this industry.

The bottom line

Kitzy is good at their job. Kitzy will give you consistently banger shows with clear mixes on and offstage. Kitzy is knowledgeable and helpful and a truly rare personality that you won't regret bringing on the road. They will always do their best, be a leveling presence, and advocate for you.
